Dog walking services in Southampton

Are you looking for a dog walker in Southampton or surrounding areas?

A Small Paws Outdoors adventure could be just what you’re looking for if you’re local to Southampton and require a dog walker for your small dog or puppy.

The last couple of years have been a challenge to say the least. Life has changed in more ways than one and many of you are enjoying the benefits of working from home. Although this means your dog isn’t left alone all day, you’re probably still committed to a full-time role and struggling to juggle those business meetings, let alone finding the time to take your dog out for some quality exercise.

It's all about adventure - small dogs can have fun too!

Small Paws Outdoors provides dog walking adventures that are more than a walk in the park. Exclusive to little dogs, there is an adventure to be had, whatever circumstances you find yourself in.

Whether you have a lockdown puppy in need of socialisation, a small senior dog who can’t walk very far, are returning to work or you just don’t like the idea of doggy day care, my dog walking services could be the answer. I also recently launched my specialist Backpack Adventures which provide a solution for little dogs with health problems.

As a small dog owner myself, I completely understand that little dogs need extra special care and attention. Due to their small size, they are a lot more vulnerable and are prone to being stepped on, can get easily lost and also struggle with a number of health problems. This inspired me to create four different adventures that I’ve tailored to care for the health and happiness of little dogs, including Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, Pugs, Cavapoos, Cockapoos, Shih Tzus, Terriers, Lhasa Apsos and more using my S.M.A.L.L system.

What happens on the first walk?

On the first few walks, I begin by taking your dog out on a one-to-one basis and always on lead. This is so we can get to know each other and I can assess your dog’s needs such as their likes and dislikes, walking style, manners and recall skills. Once we’ve formed a bond and I’m happy your dog is ready to join a group, I will then introduce them to other dogs I feel are a good match.

I’m also happy to walk your dog off lead providing you’ve given me express permission and I’m confident in their recall skills. However, if you don’t want your dog walked off lead, that’s absolutely fine too! I prefer to be over cautious, making sure your dog is well looked after. This gives you the chance to relax knowing your dog is in safe hands, will never be walked with large bouncy canines and is benefiting from just the right amount of exercise for their individual needs.

The S.M.A.L.L. system explained

S. | Small dogs only

Only small and toy breeds are walked together, reducing the risk of your little dog being stepped on by large, bouncy canines.

M. | Management

A maximum of 4 dogs in a group, ensuring I'm in control of your pet at all times.

A. | Assessment

During our complimentary meet and greet and for the first few walks, I'll get to know your dog's specific needs and will continue to monitor these on every adventure.
This ensures your pet is fully engaged and benefiting from the right amount of exercise.

L. | Lead options available

I will never automatically walk your dog off lead without your permission and unless I'm fully confident your dog has good recall.
If you'd prefer to have your dog kept on lead at all times, that's absolutely your choice.

L. | Love

Small Paws Outdoors was inspired by my own little dog; a tiny Pomeranian with a number of health conditions. I was born an animal lover which, combined with
personal insight into how much your pet means to you, ensures l will always treat your dog with kindness and respect. I don't believe in using harsh techniques and
only use positive reinforcement through game playing and rewarding good behaviour with high-quality treats.
